Set the Traps

Family drama but with plenty of humour sprinkled throughout. Colin and Peggy Harvey are in their fifties and live in a medium sized country town in Victoria, Australia. (location, arbitrary) They have three children: Twin boys Craig and Jimmy aged mid twenties, and Candy early twenties. Only Craig and Candy live at home - Jimmy left home some time back and lives in the city. Peggy's mother, who suffers from dementia lives with them. Family dynamics are strained to say the least. The family is emotionally dysfunctional and each plays games to set one against another. Colin and Peggy have always had their favourites, playing tug-of-war with the twins whilst bringing them up. Peggy has become quite bitter in her outlook and resents being responsible for her mother while her sister, Maggie lives quite comfortably in a leafy suburb of the city. However something happened one Saturday night, which turned the whole family upside down, exposing all the family vulnerabilities. What happened and how can they come through it unscathed? Candy's boyfriend Doug and Molly, a neighbour in her fifties, make up a cast of 8. Each character is multi-layered and audiences can relate to them easily and discuss the intricacies of the play long after it has finished.
